Nicholas Betts asked:
I am renovating a basement studio apartment that has concrete walls and a mold problem, the condensation is coming in through the concrete. My maintenance employee recommends attaching studs to the concrete then adding insulation (fiberglass) then drywall it, is this the best option? Thanks.

devzin98 asked: I’m a new homeowner and have made the mistake of trying to pull a metal anchor from drywall. I pull plastic ones and they usually pop right out. The metal one, however, left a rather large hole in the drywall. I’ve tried to repair with spackel, and it now looks decent (thankfully). So, two questions:
1) What is the most effective way to remove those metal suckers?
2) What would have been the most effective way to repair the large hole I made?
Thanks!

I consider myself a rookie when it comes to finishing drywall. What color do you think will mask some of the errors in my finish work?? It’s in the basement without much natural light, so a lighter tone might have to work.

My staircase rail is coming loose. The screws from the rail are coming out of the holes from the drywall. How do you repair the drywall so the screws will hold?

My house was built in the 1950’s and has some sort of hard board for walls with extremely ugly wallpaper to match. If I wanted drywall instead of what I have now would I need to rip out the old or apply directly over? I just want to be able to paint and have decent looking walls.

This is my first time floating and taping drywall. Do you float and tape the seams where the wall and the ceiling meet? What if there are some pretty big gaps? How do you fill the gaps?

The liablility insurance that I have claims that I am more of a remdeling contractor than a drywall company. But yet we installed over 1,000,000 sq. ft. of the product last year. Most commercial contractors do instal both metal suds drywall at the same time to ensure a rigid durable wall system.

I used a good primer on my new drywall and a good quality paint over that. The paint now completely dry is peeling off whenever it’s touched. It’s getting very frustrating. What am I doing wrong?
