How can insurance companies not refuse insurance for people with pre existing conditions?

November 22nd, 2009
Nathan asked:

Under Obama’s health plan, insurance can’t be refused because of a pre existing condition (at least that’s what I heard). How would that work? Why would anyone get insurance before getting sick? How would that not bankrupt the companies?

Or is that the republican plan for reform?

What is the best health insurance and life insurance policies to go with?
I am recently out of the military and need to purchase an individual health ins policy. However, I am not sure which ones are the best. I am a student, do they offer any good student policies? Also, is the SGLI to VGLI conversion a good change to make? If not, which is better term or whole life insurance policies?

What insurance company that operates in CA has the lowest premiums on basic liability insurance?

BestAnswerGuy asked:

I had Allstate at one time because it appeared to have the best deal on such coverage while my car insurance has been through Mercury. I’m interested in basic liability, no comp collision. I’ve got a clean driving record, car license for years but only a motorcycle permit currently.

Thanks!
It’d be for a Ninja 250, by the way.

What happens to my insurance after i got a speeding ticket?

November 19th, 2009
Mei asked:

I got a speeding ticket for the first time ever. The cop put me down as 80+ mph, which i needed to go 70mph. When my insurance bill comes in, would my insurance be higher? Also my insurance is AAA. I still haven’t gotten my actual ticket in the mail yet, and i was wondering if my insurance bill would be any higher until I’m proven guilty, because i know that if i can take traffic school, it won’t get any higher the point taken off. But i was wondering until then, would it still get higher?

How does business insurance work in a lawsuit?

November 19th, 2009
ZeeZee asked:

As a small business, I’m finally getting around to looking at business insurance. God forbid I should get sued, but that would be the only reason I would get insurance at this point.

If I get sued (assuming I did nothing wrong that would terminate coverage), what are my responsibilities with regard to paying legal fees? What role will the insurance company play or what control will they have in the litigation process?

How exactly does insurance affect our economy?

November 18th, 2009
lauritaingp asked:

I understand the basics of insurance. That is the transfer of risk. That insurance companies bet on getting more in premiums than they have to pay out in claims. What I’m trying to understand is, how deeply insurance, our ability to purchase it, affects our economy. Please if you could give me some answers regarding this or point me to a site where I can find more information it would be great.
