I’m running into tight finances and was wondering if anyone dumpster dives to find stuff to sell on eBay. Is this profitable? I see that lots of stuff can be found in dumpster, but I’m scared to give it a try. Please help.

studs for drywall: is it ok if the studs are attached like this?

I want to drywall my basement (into concrete block), can the wide stud surface be facing out or do I have to build the frame first with the smaller edge of the stud facing out?

would there be problems running electrical if the large face of the stud was facing out? do the boxes need a certain depth?
I’ve tap-conned a couple of board but don’t want to go further if I have to build a frame with the small edge facing out. thanks.
hope this makes sense.
Do I need to replace wet drywall from an overflowed toilet?
Monday, July 6th, 2009Katherine R asked:
Our toilet had been running the past couple of days and it got clogged without anyone knowing. Needless to say, we found out it was clogged when water was dripping downstairs from our kitchen light fixtures and ceiling. Do we have to replace the wet drywall? It seems it may have happened to owners before us because there are cracked paint bubbles in the same spot. Also, we live in year round warm climate where mold is a common issue.

Is it absolutely necessary to replace moldy drywall?
Saturday, January 3rd, 2009APJ asked:
I have a little bit of mold growing on some drywall due to a leaky roof. The roof has been fixed and we are running a dehumidifier to remove the moisture. Is there anyway that the drywall can be cleaned instead of replaced? We are on such a tight budget. Also..what would kill the mold? I heard bleach, but don’t know if that is the best or if there is something better. Thank you!
Thank you all for your answers. I believe that replacing the drywall will obviously be our best move and we will just have to do that. Thanks once again.

How do I remove wallpaper glue residue off my drywall after steaming off the wallpaper?
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008Linda A. asked:
Your experience needed! Now that we removed our wallpaper using a professional steamer, we have a glue residue left on the drywall. How do we remove this safely? Running over the steamer over the areas just isn’t doing the trick, and Im concerned about damaging the drywall. Any advice?

How do I sand down seams in my drywall?

I recently moved into a condo, and want to paint the walls. However, I noticed that in some spots where two sheets of drywall meet, there are vertical seams or bumps running from floor to ceiling.
I recently moved into a condo, and want to paint the walls. However, I noticed that in some spots where two sheets of drywall meet, there are vertical seams or bumps running from floor to ceiling.
Obviously, I would like to sand these bumps down before I paint, however, I am not sure what I need to do, or what supplies I should use.
Since I am not installing drywall, and there are no visible gaps between the drywall sheets, I wouldn’t think I would need to spackle. But I was wondering if anyone had any advice. Thanks!
